Wheatbelt Baseball League

The league has a returning team from a few years back - the Fairview Outlaws. Opening night is Tuesday, May 19. All 6 teams will be playing that night. The full schedule is posted on this site. Also, this year's All-Star Game and Skills contest is on Saturday, June 13 in Fort St. John. Come on out and watch some Peace Region baseball.

1st - Grande Prairie finished with 11 wins and 5 losses
2nd - Rycroft finished with 10 wins and 6 losses *
3rd - Peace River finished with 10 wins and 6 losses *
4th - Grimshaw finished with 6 wins and 10 losses
5th - Fort St. John finished with 3 wins and 13 losses

* Rycroft and Peace River were tied at 10 and 6, they split the season series 2 and 2, but in the season series Rycroft scored 33 runs and Peace River only scored 28 runs - thus Rycroft was awarded 2nd place

A great day on Saturday for all the events. The East beat the West again this year by a score of 2 - 1. In the Skills Contest, the fastest pitcher was Jarrod MacEachern with a speed of 80 miles per hour. The infield competition saw Brad Smith take 1st and Darryl Smith take 2nd. The fastest runners were Mark Krauss with a time of 16.07 seconds followed by Mike Tom with 16.36 seconds. The outfield competition saw Brad Smith take 1st again and Ty Weibe take 2nd. In the offence competition Morgan Doucette was 1st with Darryl Smith 2nd.

Well, the All Star weekend is upon us. This year's event goes on Saturday, July 5th at the College Diamond in Grande Prairie. The Skills Contest will start at 12:00 noon and the All Star Game itself will start at 2:00 p.m. Come out and watch some great baseball.

It is the home team's responsibility to input the game on GameChanger. It is recommended someone score the whole game, but at least input the final score to keep the media informed and standings up to date. If the game is not scored it won't show up on the scoreboard. Scoring a game can only be done by the team's administrator on the GameChanger app. Each team is allowed 3 admins, but I will stay on as one of those three to be able to set things up or make changes for the league. To be an admin you need to first become a fan of that team and let a current admin can then make you an admin.

Welcome to the 2014 baseball season. The first games start on Thursday, May 22 with the defending champions, Peace River hosting Grimshaw and Rycroft hosts Grande Prairie. The full 2014 schedule is posted under schedule. Enjoy the season everyone.
